Privacy Policy

GamerVault ("we," "us," or "our") is a mobile application that helps video game collectors track, value, and showcase their collections. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use GamerVault, how we use it, and the choices you have.

By using GamerVault, you agree to the practices described below. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information you provide

• Account information. When you sign up, we collect your email address, a chosen username (handle), and a password (if using email authentication). If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email from that provider.
• Collection data. The games you add, their condition, purchase prices, dates, photos, and notes you choose to attach.
• Profile content. Your avatar, display name, and any profile information you make public.
• Communications. If you email us, we keep that correspondence to provide support.

1.2 Information collected automatically

• Device information. Device model, operating system version, app version, and a device identifier used for push notifications.
• Usage information. Basic, aggregated statistics like which screens are visited and how often features are used, to help us improve the app.
• Approximate location. We use your device's region setting (not GPS) to route affiliate links to the appropriate regional storefront (e.g., amazon.ca vs amazon.com).

1.3 Information we do not collect

• We do not collect precise GPS location.
• We do not access your contacts, photos (other than ones you explicitly add to a game), microphone, or other device sensors beyond the camera (used for barcode scanning).
• We do not collect financial account numbers or payment card details — purchases on third-party storefronts are handled entirely by those services.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide the core features of the app (saving your collection, syncing across devices, calculating value);
• Authenticate you and protect your account;
• Display your public profile to other users (only if you enable public visibility);
• Send transactional notifications (price alerts, friend requests) — only when you opt in;
• Improve the app and fix bugs;
• Comply with legal obligations.

3. Who We Share Information With

We do not sell your personal information. We share limited information with the following third parties strictly to operate the app:

• Firebase (Google LLC): for authentication, database storage, cloud functions, and push notifications.
• Apple Sign In with Apple / Google Sign-In: only if you choose to use these to log in.
• IGDB / Twitch (Amazon): we query their game database for metadata (titles, covers, release years). We do not send them any personal information about you.
• PriceCharting: we query their pricing API for current market values. We do not send them any personal information about you.
• Affiliate networks (eBay Partner Network, Amazon Associates, ShareASale and its merchants): when you tap an affiliate link, you are redirected to a third-party storefront which sets its own cookies and tracking. Their privacy policies govern that behaviour.

4. Public Profile and Social Features

GamerVault lets you make your profile, collection, stats, or total value visible to other users. These are off by default — you must explicitly enable each in Settings → Privacy. You can change these at any time.

5. Affiliate Disclosure

Some links in GamerVault are affiliate links (eBay Partner Network, Amazon Associates, ShareASale merchants). If you tap an affiliate link and make a purchase, we may receive a small commission at no additional cost to you. This is how we keep the app free.

6. Trademarks and Game Information

GamerVault is an independent collector tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft, Sega, Atari, or any other video game publisher or platform holder. All trademarks, game titles, cover art, and brand names are the property of their respective owners.

7. Data Retention

We keep your account information and collection data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account (Settings → Account → Delete Account), we permanently delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

8. Your Rights

You may at any time:

• Access, update, or correct your account and collection data from within the app;
• Export your collection (Settings → Export);
• Delete your account, which permanently removes your data;
• Disable push notifications from your device settings;
• Contact us with privacy questions at support@gamervault.app.

If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, California, or another jurisdiction with applicable privacy laws, you may have additional rights including data portability, restriction of processing, and the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

9. Children

GamerVault is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn we have collected such information, we will delete it. If you believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

10. Security

We use industry-standard practices to protect your data — encrypted transport (HTTPS/TLS), secure cloud infrastructure, and per-user database isolation rules. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to keep your information safe.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you in the app or by email. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
