Delete Your Account
You can permanently delete your GamerVault account and all associated data at any time. This page explains how, what gets deleted, and how long it takes.
This is permanent. Once your account is deleted, your collection, wishlist, profile, followers, and settings cannot be recovered. Please export your collection first if you'd like a copy (Settings → Export).
Option 1 — Delete from inside the app (recommended)
The fastest way. Takes about 15 seconds:
- Open the GamerVault app on your device.
- Tap the Profile tab in the bottom navigation.
- Scroll down and tap Delete Account.
- Type DELETE in the confirmation box to confirm.
- Tap Delete My Account.
Your account is deleted immediately. If you signed in with Apple or Google and it's been a while since your last login, the app will ask you to re-authenticate first for security — this is required by Apple and Google and cannot be skipped.
Option 2 — Delete by email (if you no longer have the app)
If you've uninstalled the app or lost access to your device, you can request account deletion by email:
Send an email to support@gamervault.app from the email address associated with your GamerVault account with the subject line "Delete my GamerVault account".
We will verify ownership and delete your account within 7 business days. You will receive a confirmation email once the deletion is complete.
What gets deleted
When you delete your account, we permanently remove:
- Your profile (handle, display name, avatar, bio);
- Your entire collection and wishlist;
- Purchase prices, dates, condition notes, and photos you added;
- Follower / following relationships;
- Push notification tokens;
- App settings and preferences;
- Any messages, activity, or interactions tied to your account.
What we retain (and why)
A small amount of information may be retained for a limited period, strictly for the reasons listed:
- Anonymized, aggregated usage data (e.g., "on this day, N users added a game") that cannot be linked back to you. Retained indefinitely for analytics.
- Support correspondence you sent us. Retained for up to 12 months to help us improve the app, then deleted.
- Records required by law (e.g., tax records if you made a purchase). Retained only as long as legally required.
Deletion timeline
- In-app deletion: your account and personal data are removed from active systems immediately.
- Email request: completed within 7 business days of us verifying your identity.
- Encrypted backups: our infrastructure keeps encrypted backups for up to 30 days for disaster recovery. Your personal data is purged from these on the normal rotation and is not accessible except in the event of a catastrophic failure.
